"Entrance Scholarship" Program
Provincial Alliance Credit Union values our youth and supports all our members' plans to further their education. We are proud to offer four $500 Scholarships for members who will be continuing their education as a full time student in any curriculum offered by an accredited College or University in the fall of 2010.
Purpose
The Provincial Alliance Credit Union scholarship fund provides financial assistance to students in recognition of their contribution to their community.
Eligibility
To be eligible, the student or a parent or grandparent of the student, must be a member of the Provincial Alliance Credit Union.
The scholarship will assist students who have successfully completed the secondary school studies and will be continuing their studies in any full time program at a recognized University or College.
Value of Award
Four scholarships, each valued at Five Hundred dollars ($500.00) will be awarded.
Selection Procedure
The successful applicants will be chosen by a Selection committee on the basis of the following: Demonstration of community involvement (student government, sports, community services, organizations etc.) and volunteerism.
Application Procedure
Each applicant is required to submit:
- completed application form
- copy of the high school transcript
- two reference letters, one from the secondary school i.e. teacher, coach, etc., and one from a person familiar with the applicants involvement in community/organization activities. This person should be unrelated to the applicant.
- copy of acceptance letter at a post secondary institution
- attach a 500 word essay with information on the cooperative system along with a paragraph or two on “How the credit union can serve younger members more effectively”
Deadline Dates
Applications and all other supporting documentations must be submitted to your branch or any branch of the credit union in an envelope marked: Provincial Alliance Credit Union “Entrance Scholarship Program”, on or before May 1st, 2010.
